Conversion Unit in Original Box - SN U216 (ca. 1938)
Early Pre-WWII (ca. 1938) Numbered Conversion Unit
U216 complete with original box, instructions and all
accessories. Two tone magazine with "Service Model"
designation on the floor plate. Box is earliest type
that lacks center compartment for recoil spring.This
conversion unit was one of four shipped to Stoeger Arms
Company, New York, New York on September 16, 1938.
"U" prefix number on the top of the slide just ahead of the
rear sight. View of rear Stevens sight.
All component parts of the disassembled conversion unit
showing right side of slide. Barrel and floating chamber
are numbered U216 which is the number on the top of the
slide. Ejector is the early milled type.

Conversion unit in original box numbered to the gun (inside
lid on left side) with component parts.
Colt National Match Serial Number C188054 without
Swartz Safety and fixed sights, blued finish and checkered
walnut grips. Slide is numbered to the frame. The Colt and
.22-.45 Conversion Unit serial number U216 belonged to
Colonel Tom Desmond, USA originally from Utica, NY. Col.
Desmond was in Army intelligence. |
