Colt Model N Serial Number 400000 - One of a two gun
shipment to W.H. Hoegee Co, Los Angeles, CA, June 15,
1936. Occasionally a collector will encounter an unusual
serial number in the course of collecting. This is one such
example. One would think that a pistol with such an unusual
serial number would be reserved for presentation to Colt
employees when milestones in production were reached.
According to the factory letter, this gun was one of two
guns shipped in standard configuration to a large Colt
retailer in 1936. In this year, production of this model
was just over 2000 pistols. |
